The Bucket Board

Here is a fantastic idea, put together for Earth Hour, skateboards made from waste out of a tip by the brilliant Mac Premo.

Do the Green Thing has teamed up with World Wildlife Fund-UK to curate the ‘Everyday Things’ collection: fifteen artists from around the world were asked to repurpose daily objects and show how creativity can lead the way in encouraging people to live a greener lifestyle. When artist Mac Premo was asked to contribute to the collection, he partnered with Sanford Shapes to create skateboard decks made entirely out of material lifted from a dumpster. Mac then made this film which shows the process and inspiration behind the Bucket Board.

Think the advert is rather cool too.

Big Spring Beach Clean on Southsea Beach.

Big Spring Beach Clean

Surfers Against Sewage are proudly launching their biggest Big Spring Beach Clean ever to protect the UK’s beaches, waves and wildlife from the rising tide of marine litter, in association with Vita Coco Coconut Water, World Animal Protection and Protec Direct.

They are calling for community volunteers to lead Big Spring Beach Cleans at their favourite beaches over the weekend of the 27th – 29th of March. Set to be the biggest ever, the Big Spring Beach Clean 2015 aims to cover at least 150 beaches and mobilise up to 5,000 beach clean volunteers to remove tonnes of beach litter from around the UK coastline.

People of Southsea get down the beach on Sunday March 29th. Lianne Hickman needs your helping hands on Sunday 29th March. Join SAS and your local community for a beach clean from 10-12pm as part of the biggest Big Spring Beach Clean ever.

Please go and support on the day, let’s spread the word and get as many people together for this as possible. More people, more hands, more fun!

Meet outside the Coffee Cup (under construction), opposite the colourful beach huts Eastney end at 10am.

Bin liners, gloves and smiles will be provided.
