UNICEF Tap Project

The UNICEF Tap Project is back! This year’s initiative asks Americans to unlock 14 million days of clean, safe water for children around the world by encouraging you to stop texting, calling, emailing, tweeting and posting — and challenge your friends to do the same. Millions of children around the globe do not have safe, clean water to drink, and the lack of this basic necessity isn’t just inconvenient — it’s lethal. Take the challenge on your cell phone at UNICEFTapProject.org throughout the month of March. The longer you go without touching your smartphone, the more clean water will be unlocked for children in need.

The UNICEF Tap Project is a nationwide campaign that provides clean water and adequate sanitation to children around the world. Currently, UNICEF works in more than 100 countries around the world to improve access to safe water and sanitation facilities in schools and communities and to promote safe hygiene practices.

See what UNICEF has accomplished. Projects include urgent care in the Philippines where UNICEF so far has provided water kits, water treatment products, portable toilets, and hygiene kits to hundreds of thousands of people in need.

We at NMDW HQ think this is a great way to raise money and awareness. Plus you get to get a life not using your smartphone! Thank you Claire for making us aware of this.

Big Spring Beach Clean on Southsea Beach.

Big Spring Beach Clean

Surfers Against Sewage are proudly launching their biggest Big Spring Beach Clean ever to protect the UK’s beaches, waves and wildlife from the rising tide of marine litter, in association with Vita Coco Coconut Water, World Animal Protection and Protec Direct.

They are calling for community volunteers to lead Big Spring Beach Cleans at their favourite beaches over the weekend of the 27th – 29th of March. Set to be the biggest ever, the Big Spring Beach Clean 2015 aims to cover at least 150 beaches and mobilise up to 5,000 beach clean volunteers to remove tonnes of beach litter from around the UK coastline.

People of Southsea get down the beach on Sunday March 29th. Lianne Hickman needs your helping hands on Sunday 29th March. Join SAS and your local community for a beach clean from 10-12pm as part of the biggest Big Spring Beach Clean ever.

Please go and support on the day, let’s spread the word and get as many people together for this as possible. More people, more hands, more fun!

The film Bottled Life is now on available to watch on Netflix.

Do you know how to turn ordinary water into a billion-dollar business? In Switzerland there’s a company which has developed the art to perfection – Nestlé. This company dominates the global business in bottled water.

Swiss journalist Res Gehringer has investigated this money-making phenomena. Nestlé refused to cooperate, on the pretext that it was “the wrong film at the wrong time”. So Gehringer went on a journey of exploration, researching the story in the USA, Nigeria and Pakistan. His journey into the world of bottled water reveals the schemes and strategies of the most powerful food and beverage company on our planet.
