Southsea to Host No More Durty Water Fundraiser.

durtydozen_fly

Our friends from Durty Sound System are putting together another FUNDRAISER for us.

With the money raised from this event, and another in Brighton, will allow us to work with Calcutta Rescue in Kolkata
Calcutta Rescue has moved into the field of arsenic mitigation in response to the current crisis whereby, as a result of a drop in the water table, the drinking water supply for millions of people in West Bengal has become contaminated with arsenic, a naturally-occurring and very toxic substance.
We are hoping to buy a water filtration unit, which filters out the arsenic and supplies clean drinking water.

‘THE DURTY DOZEN’

A themed party based on the Robert Aldrich 1967 classic war film The Dirty Dozen.

The Durty Dozen, the most twisted, anti-establishment bunch of music junkies your ever run into!

We have trained them, excited them and armed them with fantastic records to execute their mission.

The Dirty Dozen [Film]

The Dirty Dozen was also one of the first movies to show the darker side of war – that the best soldiers are often society’s outcasts, the sociopaths and misanthropes who kill and rape. War is not civilized, and there’s no place for order or manners amidst the carnage of a battlefield.

About a suicide mission, the army has decided to use 12 criminals who are either awaiting the execution of a death sentence or who have been condemned to spend at least 20 years in prison. If the “volunteers” survive and distinguish themselves, their sentences will be commuted.

Think we need to look into better containers for the fresh water.

Protected Spring #3

What a way to end the year. Our 3rd protected spring is in operation. Built  in association with Bridge Of Hope Children’s Ministry in West Uganda.

This was built using money from Durty Sound System Block Party – No More Durty Water Campaign fundraiser. Which was held on Saturday 24th November at The Wine Vaults in Southsea, Uk.

The fundraiser raised a fantastic £1,489.95. We would like to thank everyone who attended, played and worked at this fabulous event. And a massive thank you to the Wine Vaults for having us and letting the Durty Sound System transform the venue.

It is so amazing that this community has this facility already. No waiting around for its official opening in February.

Just shows what WE can do to improve lives with clean water, and how quick you can make a difference to a community. We are already looking into our next water project and can’t wait to get stuck in. Thank you for your time and donations.

Protecting Spring #2 Operational

We are very pleased to announced that our second Protected Spring in Uganda is now fully operational, giving more people clean water. Amazing.

Following on from our last post, you can see the spring taking shape.

The excavation was quite difficult as they needed to dig very deep as you can see by the sides.

A really great achievement for No More Durty Water to give this community clean water. This would not happen without the dedication of the Bridge Of Hope Children’s Ministry, to identify the location and the resources in Uganda.

Protecting Spring 2012

Up date progress on our latest Protected Spring being installed at the moment in Uganda.

The water hole is quite some distance off the road and serves the local community, a health centre and school. .

The people were very willing to carry the materials from the road where the truck will drop them down to the water hole.

The construction of the Protected Spring has now commenced. This time around a lot more digging is required than at the last one.

More photos will be added as the construction continues. Many thanks to the Bridge of Hope Children’s Ministry for identifying and organising our latest spring.

A trip to the seaside with Durty 45 Bus

Durty 45 Bus was once again out on the campaign trail for No More Durty Water, this time at Beach Buggin. The ultimate VDUB show by the beach due to our amazing location on Southsea Common in the heart of the seafront.
Over 1050 cars attending the show and enjoyed a lazy, laid back day in the sunshine with the Durty 45 Bus providing the soundtrack.

A big thank you to Ali, Dave and Beach Buggin crew for getting the Durty 45 Bus & No More Durty Water involved.

New friends & connections made, flyers given out, t-shirts sold and a great reaction for the Durty 45 Bus. Going to a very busy summer 2012 for the bus supporting No More Durty Water.

Latest Photos From Uganda

We are very excited at the HQ, now that the Rainwater Harvesters are ready to start collecting rainwater for the children’s village in Rukungiri, Uganda. It is an amazing feeling to have raised the money for this project. Big thank you to the Bridge of Hope Children’s Ministry for getting us involved, and all the hard work that went into this project.

This would not of been possible without everyone who attended the No More Durty Water events. See you at the next party.
